Lutheran Hour speaker emeritus Rev. Ken Klaus was the guest lecturer Sept. 8-11 for the 71st annual International Lutheran Laymen’s League men’s retreat at Camp Arcadia.
“It was a very nice weekend, a little rainy on Saturday, but otherwise it was great,” retreat committee chairman Tom Anderson said. “We had 184 campers this year, which is up from the last several years. Between the fines and Sundays offering we raised a little over $5,000, which is a record and which I understand from Bruce Sutherland (of Lutheran Hour Ministries) will be matched to increase its value to a little over $10,000 for Lutheran Hour Ministries.
Pastor Ken Klaus’ topic was “A Changing Christ in a Changeless World?”
“Is the topic title a typo?” Anderson said. “Not at all. Pastor Klaus explained how our world, which is constant in its sinfulness and desired to undermine the Gospel, is constantly trying to make Jesus and His doctrines more acceptable and palatable. Discussion will center on how this has happened historically, presently, and how we can respond to it in the future.
“As always, an excellent presentation. He spoke about the problems we have created with “political correctness.”
