Long-time Lutheran Schools Educator Elaine Bickel, of Millington, will be the guest speaker at the banquet of the 77th annual Michigan District Lutheran Laymen’s League convention at the Bavarian Inn, Frankenmuth.
Lutheran Hour speaker Dr. Rev. Michael Ziegler will be leading an outreach seminar in the afternoon, “Bringing Christ to Everyone.”
For the seminar, registration is 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon the opener at 12:45 p.m.
The banquet begins at 5 p.m. and will feature the presentation by Mrs. Bickel. All ordained LCMS clergy and laypersons attending for the first time will be admitted free.
Bickel is the author of numerous Concordia Publishing House curriculum materials for Sunday Schools, Vacation Bible Schools, and Lutheran day schools. She is also the author of three Bible study books – Living With Compulsive Behavior, Growing as a Christian Mother, and Roots and Wings: A Parent’s Challenge.
Bickel is the author of devotions and articles published in Lutheran Woman’s Quarterly, Guideposts, and a variety of other publications. A frequent humorous and inspirational speaker for banquets and retreats, she is an experienced youth and family life director.
Bickel is a trained coordinator for Rainbows for All God’s Children, a support group for children who are experiencing loss due to death or divorce. A recipient of the 1994 Saginaw News Crystal Apple Award for teaching excellence and is consistently listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She was interviewed by Phyllis Wallace on “Woman to Woman,”a Lutheran Hour Ministries program.
