We have all been SENT.
That was the message from long-time Lutheran schools administrator and motivational speaker Elaine Bickel, who served as banquet speaker for the 73rd annual Michigan District Lutheran Laymen’s League convention on April 18 at Maxfield’s Restaurant.
Her message was based on John 20:21; Jesus said to them, “peace with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
There so many opportunities in every day life for us to witness, even when we don’t realize it, Bickel told the audience. It just shows that we’ve been Sent to witness.
Attendees at the convention elected Howard Wellhousen of Monroe to a two-year term as vice president and re-elected Gilbert Bartz to a two-year term as treasurer.
Attendees were also invited to attend the district’s Bringing Christ to Your Neighborhood outreach seminar on Saturday Oct. 10, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lansing. Laity from all churches inviting and all expenses will be covered by Lutheran Hour Ministries.
Convention attendees also approved a $14,220 operational budget for 2015-16.
