The 69th annual Lutheran Laymen’s League Lutheran Hour Ministries Arcadia Retreat is set for Sept. 4-7 at Camp Arcadia and there is still room for registration.
The retreat will feature Rev. Dr. Thomas R. Ahlersmeyer as speaker and lecturer. He is the former president of Concordia University in Ann Arbor. He currently serves as senior pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School in Fort Wayne, Ind.
All laymen are welcome to attend. Membership with Lutheran Hour Ministries is not necessary, but encouraged.
The retreat schedule includes a variety of spiritual and social experiences. Days include Matins and Vespers services. The days have invigorating lectures and activities that bring God closer to the retreater. The retreat closes with a spirited Sunday worship service and farewell brunch.
Chaplains are Rev. David Schmidt, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Royal Oak, and Rev. Trevor Sutton, assistant pastor at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Haslett.
Guests may register at the Camp Office beginning at 5 p.m. on Sept. 4. Reservations for the Friday golf outing will be taken at this time. Evening vespers are set for 10 p.m. in the Wigwam.
Friday will feature the 8 a.m. golf outing. Lectures are set for the afternoon and evening.
Saturday evening leads into the final lecture, discussions groups, annual softball game, memorial service, talent night and afterglow.
The worship service at 8 a.m. is featured on Sunday followed by a brunch and the farewells for this year’s retreat.
