More than $4,000 was raised for Lutheran Hour Ministries from the 69th annual Lutheran Laymen’s League Arcadia Retreat Sept. 4-7 at Camp Arcadia.
Close to 200 laymen attended the event which featured a variety of spiritual and social experiences.
The speaker/lecturer was the Rev. Dr. Thomas R. Ahlersmeyer, senior pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School in Fort Wayne, Ind., and former president of Concordia University in Ann Arbor. He spoke on the theme of “We are Sent,” from John 20:21: “Jesus said to them, peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, even so I am sending you.”
Chaplains were Rev. David Schmidt from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Royal Oak and Rev. Trevor Sutton, associate pastor at St Luke Lutheran Church in Haslett.
Plans are already being made for the 70th annual retreat Sept. 10-13. The speaker/lecturer will be Dr. Dale Meyer, president of Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and former Lutheran Hour speaker.
