District president issues latest report
Michigan District President John Raffel provided a recent report to the Michigan District on events taking place in the district. Here’s his report:
-We had a good representation at the SENT Conference. Good work by Jack Kidwell and the committee to get everything done. These conferences have taken the place of the International Conventions.
-The president’s conference was conducted in Detroit and will not be held in St. Louis this year.
-LHM is in partnership with the Florida-Georgia district LCMS outreach initiative as a ministry to help that area growth.
-Lutheran Hour is on 1,397 broadcast outlets.
-Research project underway on the Lutheran Hour. Staff is getting feedback from the audience. Purpose is to provide updated snapshot of the current audience that will guide program enhancement/changes.
-Lutheran Hour test project, where it will be recorded before a live audience.
–2015 Lutheran Hour Float THE BIBLE; GOD’S STORY
-A This Is the Life pilot is moving forward and should be completed in the next month with an final edit. (See next section)
THIS IS THE LIFE
Greeting in the name of Jesus Christ,
We are thankful for you past and continuing support of Lutheran Hour Ministries. We are currently working on a pilot project that involves the classic program “This is the Life”. We are seeking your help in identifying any 16mm copies of episodes of which you may be aware of at your church, school etc. If you have knowledge of film copies we would appreciate if you could contact us with the episode name and/or number. Most episodes we have found are identified on the round film canister label. If the canister is not identified, the first few feet of film (which is usually a solid color) will have the episode name and/or number written on it. If the first few feet are not solid color, it is best to leave it alone. The condition of the film will vary, please take care in handling the film. It may be brittle and would require preservation. Do not be surprised if there is a vinegar- like smell when the film canister is opened. Ventilating the canister is good for the film.
If you can help us please send the information to us concerning film to which you have access. We would appreciate the information to be sent by Sept. 5, 2014.
Thank you, Jim Arand Program Director – Media
